about us

The Downtown community is one of the original Kentucky Methodist congregations with a rich history, a vibrant present, and a vital future. The congregation comes from just down the street, across town, and even neighboring communities, representing all ages and life-stages all with a desire to grow closer to Christ as we worship, grow, and serve together. The expression Downtown for Good means more than a location. It’s a commitment to participate in God’s work from the heart of our city.

Join us at 200 West High Street in Lexington.

What times are worship services?

We offer two services at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM. Our 11:00 AM service is available via livestream each Sunday. We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of the month, and all are welcome to participate. Find recent services here.

What about Sunday School and small groups?

Currently some of our classes and groups are meeting in-person, virtually, or both. Virtual and hybrid groups connect through Zoom. If you are looking for more information on a class, please use this link.

How do I join?

If you are interested in making Downtown your church home, just let us know. Our pastors are available to answer any questions about the United Methodist Church in general and our particular church and worshiping community as well. You will find some general information here.

How do I arrange baptism for my infant/child?

Baptism is an opportunity for parents and the congregation to make a public commitment to nurture the child in faith, and we are always grateful to pledge to partner with parents in this way. Contact Barry Prince here.

Are non-members allowed to use your sanctuary for weddings?

You can find information about our wedding policies and procedures here.
