Worshiping together is always a gift. We offer two worship services at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM. Our 11:00 AM service is available via livestream each Sunday. At each service, we come together to hear God’s word, offer prayers and praise, and to be changed. We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of the month, and all are welcome to participate.

WEEKLY SERVICE TIMES:  8:30 AM and 11:00 AM

The Downtown community is one of the original Kentucky Methodist congregations with a rich history, a vibrant present, and a vital future. The congregation comes from just down the street, across town, and even neighboring communities, representing all ages and life-stages all with a desire to grow closer to Christ as we worship, grow, and serve together. The expression Downtown for Good means more than a location. It’s a commitment to participate in God’s work from the heart of our city.

MUSIC AT DOWNTOWN

The music Downtown seeks to glorify God, inspire His people and welcome all into divine worship. It is, therefore, an integral part of how we worship.

Music on Sunday mornings is led by our choral scholars and choir members of all ages. Several services throughout the year include an orchestra such as our Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve Worship, and the Good Friday Service of Tenebrae. We periodically have various community music organizations and student groups from local universities and schools participate in worship or present concerts.

Choir

Our choirs do not require auditions. Choir members are considered leaders in worship. The emphasis of our collective worship leadership informs every programming and musical decision we make. All who have an active musical role are committed to regularly serving in worship as well as to supporting and encouraging one another.

Our Voices Choral Concert Series is a gift of music to the community. Regular presenters in the series include our own Chancel Choir and orchestra, the Lexington Singers and musical groups from local academic institutions. These programs vary in content from Classical major musical works to gospel and hymn favorites to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
